We are thrilled to welcome Kaz Qutab (affectionately named Mr. Kazmo by his students) to Headwaters Academy as our first Lead Teacher. With a diverse background in education and performing arts, Mr. Kazmo brings a unique and dynamic approach to the classroom. He will complete his American Montessori Society Elementary I and II Certification this May, and has gained valuable experience as an assistant and intern in Montessori environments, including Seton Montessori School and Fox Valley Montessori. With over seven years of experience in education - three of which have been in Montessori classrooms - he has honed his skills in lesson planning, student observation, and individualized instruction. His background in conflict resolution and creative problem-solving aligns with our mission to foster a supportive and engaging educational experience.

Beyond Montessori training, Kaz holds an M.Ed. in Elementary Education and an M.F.A. in Acting, which enhances his ability to integrate creativity and communication into his teaching. His experience as a nature-based educator at Hickory Knolls Discovery Center and Hale Day Camp further reflects his passion for hands-on, experiential learning. Whether leading outdoor explorations, developing nature-based storytelling lessons, or guiding middle schoolers through leadership training in outdoor settings, Kaz has demonstrated a commitment to fostering curiosity and connection with the natural world. We look forward to the energy, innovation, and dedication he will bring to Headwaters Academy, and we are confident that he will be an invaluable addition to our team.  Welcome Mr. Kazmo!
